The current wage range for this role is $22.87/hr - $29.99/hr, with the anticipated starting wage is between $22.87/hr and $24.15/hr.

Primary Responsibilities

The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position.  Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully to be qualified for the position.  Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Assists in the recruitment, training, coordination and/or tracking compliance of volunteers, providers or others.
  • Researches prior DHS service files for cross reference, etc.
  • Maintains forms for staff, including creating additional forms, ordering State forms, copying forms, etc.
  • Coordinates and assists with transportation of consumers.
  • Maintains and complete and accurate files and performs general office work, as required.
  • Attends various staff training or other meetings, as required.
  • Performs other duties of a comparable level/type, as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate Degree in a Human Services or other related field.
  • Requires a minimum of two (2) years previous human services support experience.
 
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid driver’s license or the ability to travel between work locations.
  • Prior to hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted.  Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.
 
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS
In order to perform the duties of the Program Assistant position (listed above) the following knowledge, skills, and abilities are essential for Program Assistant to possess.
  • Knowledge of computer operation and office productivity software.
  • Basic and fundamental knowledge of human service functions, programs, and community resources.
  • Basic understanding and fundamentals of the problems, issues and concerns faced by client population.
  • Fundamentals of office/administrative procedures, practices and processes.
  • Developing a rapport and client relationships.
  • Oral and written communications.
  • Implementing and maintaining unit/client files and records in accordance with requirements and departmental/unit policies.
  • Training clients in personal care and daily living skills.
  • Assisting clients locate and apply for resources or assistance.
  • Assisting in recruiting, training and monitoring volunteer compliance.
  • Performing general office clerical functions, as required.
  • Using and operating general productivity software/applications (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, email, browsers, etc.) or specialized applications utilized by the section.
  • Performing records maintenance and clerical activities that require attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Assisting department staff in conducting home visits, monitoring clients, supervising visitation, scheduling meetings, making transportation arrangements or transporting clients, as needed.
  • Applying judgment and discretion in dealing with, monitoring and providing support services to consumer services.
  • Learning and applying the rules, guidelines, techniques and methods of the department as it applies to providing services and meeting the needs of consumers in the section assigned.
  • Applying departmental policies and procedures with respect to confidentiality.
  • Establishing and maintaining working relationships with department staff, supervisors, and clients.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships.
  • Ability to follow Dunn County policies and procedures including those pertaining to confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize job assignments.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, manage multiple projects, and complete work within established deadlines.
  • Ability to work the allocated hours of the position.
 
MINIMUM LANGUAGE SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS 
In order to perform the duties of the Program Assistant position (listed above) the following language skills are essential for the Program Assistant to possess. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with other staff members, supervisors, and the general public in written and verbal form. 
  • English skills (oral, written and comprehension) sufficient to effectively communicate with all internal and external customers.
 
MINIMUM REASONING ABILITY QUALIFICATIONS
In order to perform the duties of the Program Assistant position (listed above) the following reasoning abilities are essential for the Program Assistant to possess.
  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Must have ability to work accurately with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and concise records and reports.
 
MINIMUM MATHEMATICAL ABILITY QUALIFICATIONS
In order to perform the duties of the Program Assistant position (listed above) the following mathematical skills are essential for the Program Assistant to possess.
  • Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages.
